HeERO multi - countries pilot

The different local organisations implemented in each national pilot site will be used in the frame of the multicountry pilot.

No specific set up or additional HW and SW equipment are required for the multi-country pilot as the scope of this pilot is to verify that a foreign car travelling locally is able to send an eCall (voice+data) to the local eCall emergency service PSAPs. The multi-country pilot will assess whether the eCall triggered by a foreign IVS is able to seamless follow the locally implemented 112 eCall routing. The European agreed standards implemented and tested in the local pilots will be used for the multi-country pilot as well to assess the validity of these standards for the interoperability of the service in Europe.

It will be expected to test and assess the interoperability of the service across Europe using the agreed European standards.

ERA GLONASS project

Russia is currently investigating the implementation of eCall through the ERA GLONASS project, a high priority federal programme supported by the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as a key project to improve safety on the roads and facilitate modernization of Russian economy. Taking into account that the Russian ERA GLONASS system and the pan-European 112 eCall system are not identical, it is important to ensure compatibility of the two systems. Transport flow from Europe to Russia and from Russia to Europe will be increasing, and people will need to receive the same emergency service travelling across the border of EU. Therefore common standards must be used to provide service coverage for European vehicles in Russia and Russian vehicles in the EU. In this view it is crucial to synchronize EU and Russian implementation efforts from the very first stage. For this reasons HeERO and ERA GLONASS will test the interoperability of the two systems through at least one joint pilot, which involves, at least, the following HeERO partners: Croatia, Romania and Finland.
