Description of the pilot site and expected outcomes

Sweden pilot will involve all resources in the overall use case for the public E112 service. All eCalls will be routed to the selected pilot 112 centre and when the eCall MSD is received and the voice connection is established the eCall case is handled according to existing 112 call processes. The entire chain will be tested, including generation of eCall, wireless transmissions, reception at PSAP, eCall handling at an Emergency Centre, and higher level applications.

The major expected outcome is to enable integration with the national E112 services and a possibility to assist vehicles from any other member state.

The eCall pilot is focused on the identification of technical issues in IVS, Networks and PSAP, the working processes inside the PSAP infrastructure and the cooperation with other authorities and stakeholders. The pilot is expected to lead to a complete verification of the standardised eCall functionality for personal vehicles. Need for additional standardisation due to a complete end-to-end testing may also be identified.

It is expected that the existing procedures and methods can be followed for the PSAP and Emergency centres, and eCall will be a minor extension and modification of existing methods, technologies, organizations, processes and resources. The pilot will validate this expectation and identify if it is in error, and recommend adaptations and modification where needed and possible.

The intention is that when the pilot is completed a preliminary time schedule for eCall operational deployment will be defined in agreement with all stakeholders.
